Cutimed® Sorbion® Carbon + XL

is a sterile, hydroactive, gel-forming, superabsorbent wound dressing that offers effective and long-lasting reduction of wound-related odors. This is based on the dual action of activated carbon as well as naturally occurring minerals.

Intended Purpose

Indications: Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+ XL is intended for the treatment of large area wounds with moderate to excessive exudate levels such as decubitus, ulcus cruris, diabetic foot ulcers and other wounds healing through secondary intention, oozing laparotomy wounds, fistulas to the skin, exulcerating carcinomas, postoperative wound dehiscence and similar exuding wounds.

Wear time: Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+ XL can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on wound conditions and saturation of wound dressing. It is recommended to change the dressing every 24 hours initially, moving to less frequent changes as necessary. A completely soaked dressing must always be avoided.

How to use

1. Before applying the dressing disinfect hands and use gloves.
2. If necessary, irrigate the wound and remove leftover cleansing solution afterwards.
3. Select a suitable dressing size, so that the dressing pad overlaps by at least by 1 cm/0.4-inch (Fig. A).
4. When taking the product out of the pouch, do not touch the wound pad.
5. Apply the dressing towards the wound (Fig. A). Apply the white, unprinted side of the product facing the wound.
6. To fix dressing with other products, secure the dressing after selecting an appropriate fixation for the condition of the wound surroundings and the skin. Films, medical tapes, bandages, or any other suitable fixation dressing can be used. While fixating the dressing, take expansion during absorption into consideration (Fig. B).
How to Remove
To remove Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+ remove fixation tapes, lift one corner of Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+, gently remove the dressing and discard. Adherence of wound deposits to Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+ is a desirable effect, contributing to wound cleansing (soft debridement).
